“Perfect”La Magnolia Paul82London London13 gen 2009 I spent five nights with my girlfriend at the Magnolia in mid July 2008 and can't recommend it highly enough. The location is great - five minutes to the rail station/coach stop, 1 minute to the centre of the town, yet it still remains peaceful and quiet. The service was everything I would expect, and we were provided with all the necessary maps, guides and details of sailings to Capri/Amalfi/Positano.
We have just returned from a brilliant trip to Sorrento and stayed at La Magnolia B&B just off the main square, Piazza Tasso, in Via Caruso. La Magnolia is a very pretty B&B, amazingly quiet hidden behind a green wrought iron gate (you are given your own key) which is sheltered on one side by a high stone wall plus a lovely lemon grove. Our hosts, Carlo and his wife, were very pleasant and helpful, they served a good continental breakfast each morning in your room (no breakfast room). There are only 7 rooms, 3 of which have a french windows, a small terrace and table and chairs where you can breakfast, but these rooms are at an additional cost i.e.115 Euros extra for the week, otherwise rooms with a skylight only are Standard Rooms. La Magnolia is close to rail and bus stations (bus station behind railway station). Easy to get to Herculaneum and Pompeii. Buses to Positano/Amalfi etc plus Hop on/Hop off Sightseeing bus. Jetfoil service to Capri, Ischia and Napoli from Marina Piccolo (small harbour). We have no hesitation in recommending this B&B and would certainly return.
“Double Booked - Try another B&B”La Magnolia bronze32 Ventura, CA12 giu 2008 This hotel was in the perfect spot near downtown Sorrento. Unfortunately, when we got there around 2pm, our room was already occupied by someone else, despite having a confirmation from Venere.com and another directly from the hotel. The attending person called for Giovanna from the Blue Rooms who walked us the 1/4 mile or so to the west side of town.
“Hospitable and Cute!”La Magnolia AlohaNYC Brooklyn, NY12 giu 2008 It was late winter when we arrived, so Sorrento was not as packed as in the summertime, but the citrus was in season, and the town was full of fresh oranges and lemons. Our host was very accommodating, offering us as many homegrown oranges as we could eat, and making us a fantastic continental breakfast of cappuccino, pastries, and freshly squeezed O.J. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a lot of charm. Overall, it was a great experience at a reasonable price. Exactly the kind of place we hope for when traveling.
“Perfect location and friendly staff”La Magnolia kmcdonough Cumming, Georgia3 giu 2008 My husband and I stayed at La Magnolia for four nights in May. The hotel is very easy to get to from the Circumvesuviana train station and from the bus terminal. The location is perfect for exploring Sorrento and the surrounding areas, and is also very close to some great restaurants! Carlo, the owner, was very helpful in suggesting places to eat and helping us with trains and buses. He suggested that we eat at a restaurant owned by one of his friends. At first we were skeptical and wondered if it might be a situation where he got a kick back for sending us to some mediocre place. We were very wrong! The place is on the beach outside of Sorrento and they will send a van to pick you up. The meal was very tasty and the most reasonably priced meal we had in Sorrento. The room was nicely furnished and is very large by European standards. There was absolutely no noise from the street outside. I highly recommend!!
